rib ladders

thoughts and advice please on fitting a ladder on a 5.5 Ribcraft rib
we are a Scuba diving club with some of our members ageing and needing all the help they can get, getting in the water not a real problem but quite a lot of strength is needed in getting out.
The plan i believe is to mount a ladder to a single tube A frame
I remember a few years ago a jockey seat was ripped away from the floor of a rib because of poor fitting.would not want a repeat

It was custom made monkey I couldn't find anything off the shelf that would give me the ability to hang off the A frame as well as use the A farme to haul myself up with diving gear on of course that was age related too

Looks very effective, do you have a close up showing the A-frame mount?

about as close as ive got monkey if your going single A frame it's much easier to fab.
one thing i did is to have the steps staggered in order i would climb for different people i would have straight steps so they can choose just a thought

mine was based on this for info

just my preference i like to hold on when im stood upright getting my leg over the tube it's like getting onto a roof it's better if the ladder extends past far enough for you to step off & on especially when the old bones say no

Thank s for the pictures interesting, if your A frame is double tube it gives you a stronger base fix

If your having one fabled up you could use the A frame base bolts and have the ladder top run over the tube to the hinge point my tube actually stopped the ladder from going under the boat when climbing

I have a removable one for sale if you would like - its a ST Croix, 3 step - very strong and easy to clip to the A frame or as I did, to a large U bolt on the inside of the transom. It folds in half and will fir (on my Cobra) between the A frame and tubes when not in use. Its not as good as a bespoke fin ladder, welded to the A frame of course but that was never a choice for me as it can only realistically be done before fabrication and fit out - access and internal cables would be an issue.... and not cheap !
This is a kit-off before climbing aboard approach

... IME, rope ladders simply swing under the hull as you try to climb up them.
