New server

As of last weekend, RIBnet is running on a new dual-processor server located in Telehouse in London. It's costing 40% more than the the previous server, but I hope it will be worth it.

The new location should give noticeably better performance for everyone in the UK and Europe, but it's a faster server and is very well connected to trans Atlantic links so we should still be looking good for visitors in the US and further afield.

Yep, I don't think people realise how much effort you put in.

Just Wondering

John ...... oh no .....calm down .... Ive used some forums that tell you before you submit a post, that someone else has already posted before you make your reply to a thread , and you get the chance to review your own 'before' you submit yours. This post clashing happens a fair bit on this forum and it would prevent the problem of peeps taking a while to perfect their prose only to realise someone else was saying the same thing !! but they dont know this till after they submit it, sure they can edit it , and in fairness we have a generous amount of time to do that on this forum which I'm sure peeps appreciate, but I wondered if there was such a feature available here ? as it is preferable to peeps having to go back and edit their work of art .. especially with those who do not feel so able to do this ?

I haven't come across that feature, but we're not running the very latest software version so it may be possible.

Where have you seen this in action?

I think it was a different type of forum that uses simplemachines software which I know is different to this board.. just wasnt sure if it was a feature available elsewhere ,.. just that I found it damn handy as you get to modify your post in peace before submission, rather than a rushed edit.
