Is it running slowly for you? I've checked the server reports and it doesn't appear to be struggling.

John
The slow problem seems to be connected with "new posts" If I go direct to the catagory, then no problem. Sometimes it takes approx. 15 secs to load, not a big deal though. Perhaps I am expecting too much.
Cheers, T.

That's way too long. I don't normally use that feature, but I tried it just now and it loaded the page very quickly.

Anyone else having problems with this?

John

Virtually instant for me

'New Posts' is the feature I use more than any other... can't say I've noticed a problem with it now or in the past

Hi John
Just for info, I use Amazon.com as my speed reference and it is about 1-2 secs for a page change. Yes, sometimes new posts are Ok, but other times real slow.
Hope this helps.

Chances are its a connection issue rather than a server load issue.

The server appears to be in Canada, which is certainly an odd place for it to be with a predominately UK site

When it seems slow go and do a ctrl + F5 NOT an F5, the ctrl + F5 will load the page freshly without any cache. Time it, then subtract the 'Search took' time in the top right hand corner and you have your load time.

You can then go and do a tracert in CMD to see which hop (if any) is slowing you down.

Start > run > type cmd > enter key
or
windows key + R > type cmd > enter key (The run option no longer exists in the start menu for vista )

When it opens type:

tracert rib.net

or

tracert 216.18.2.16

(216.18.2.16 is rib nets ip)

Don't copy and paste it in, type it.

Post a screen shot here if you don't understand the results, or PM me

-------------

Tip for JK, VB can use a separate CSS file instead of having it at the top of the page which is how it is now having looked at the source. Peoples browsers can then cache the CSS file, resulting in faster load times for all!

You're correct - it's in Vancouver. It used to be in Florida until a year or so ago. The location is a factor of quality of support vs price, and with the notable exception of the problems a few weeks ago I've been very pleased with it.

That option was already selected, but I hadn't noticed that it wasn't working. It's now fixed. Thanks!

I've also upped the Cached Posts Lifespan which may help a bit.
