Suggested lease rate Protector 28 Targa

Just took possession of a new Protector 28 Targa with twin Verado 300s for use as a fast response/coastal interdiction vessel to be leased on a as needed basis to local government agencies here centrally located at Cape Canaveral. Florida, USA with direct access to the Atlantic Ocean and Intercoastal Waterway. Need an hourly lease rate appropriate to the vessel and wanted to pull from other commercial operators experience.

Vessel has the full "protect & serve" treatment with additional VHF radios, loud hailer and sirens, low profile yellow/red/blue light bar with alley and take down lights, multiple thermal, low light and FLIR cameras, an upgraded Furuno FA-50 AIS ship transponder, gurney supports in the cuddy for two stretchers, three jump seats on the bow, a cuddy HVAC system supported by an inverter and an on board generator. The boat had extensive rewiring to accommodate the new equipment and additional AGM batteries installed. The dual Furuno 12.1MFDs screens and functions are now controlled by dual finger mice at the helm and navigation stations. Full Furuno network with digital radar, digital sounder, Sirius Weather, 3 GPS, backup sounder, heading module, Icom blackbox VHFs all with Command mics. Garmin's latest Verado integrated autopilot has been installed. The covered boathouse with a fast deployment lift has also been completed centrally located on the Indian River with direct access to the Atlantic ocean via Cape Canaveral or Sebastion inlet.

Any idea what we should advertise as a rate for the vessel?

Thanks,

Skytour

Color me cynical, but if you have bought a boat like that then you have some idea about lease rates. That's not done on a whim. Advertising on here requires a very modest trade membership.

£5k per day plus fuel, minimum. Never heard of anyone chartering boats commercially by the hour. Also never heard of anyone buying a boat that they think the government 'might' want to lease?

On the other hand, I know loads of people who set a company up that own's 'their' boat which they advertise for charter but never seem to actually succeed in chartering it.....

All the running costs go against it though.
