Safety Boat regulations

Morning,
I'm hoping someone might be able to help out or point me in the right direction.

I spent 15 years in the Royal Engineers and during that time I qualified to use safety boats up to 5m, the use, maintenance and rescue. On top of this I also used to teach this and have plenty of experience inshore and coastal.

My problem is, now I'm a civvie, the company I work for are looking to use safety boats, is there a legislation/rule that I must hold a ticket to work. I have approached the HSE and they have nothing written down in black and white. I feel pretty loathed to fork out for the RYA equivilent.

Many thanks
