MANY VERY VALID POINTS
U R making here and couldn't agree more!!
However, when the law will change I think that is only logical (but who is logical you're going to ask ) that crafts that were manufactured before the change will keep their staus i.e. cat B or cat C on their CE mark.
However, this is ONLY a speculation and it would worth our while, I think, that we (as a group) try to ask the questions you are making and try to get an answer from someone or the relevant authority/ies?

I have written to the Marine coast guard Agency for clarification on the cruising area of a cat c, boat,b boat and charter qualifications required or needed. They will respond and I will publish there responce.

Having done that I will contact some insurance companies and get there responce.

Then we might gat a feel for where we are heading and the implications to us all as ribsters.

That sounds quite enlightening, as in UK waters you can't charter a RIB for an overnight passage or go more than 20 miles from a "safe haven".

So, you're allowed to have fun. I'm only jealous
Right on !..... The Brits tried to rule us up to 1916 (sorry guy's) he he. After we got our freedom we threw away the rule book. If you want to go more than twenty miles from a safe haven here then off you go. Nobody gives a toss.... untill you need the "big yellow boat" to rescue you. No rules no regs this is the place !
