Keith, there are a large number of RIB charter operators who could organise a RIB, but you ask how easy,
Most will offer a helm with the boat so that way is very easy, you call arrange the best date and pay for boat, fuel and helm etc.
To hire a boat without a helm will be done by fewer operators and you will have to show competency in boat handling, usually through RYA certification to PB2. The hire will have a large deposit secured which will be returned at the conclusion if the boat etc is returned in order. Also you will need to prove an address and identity if bareboat charter is what you seek just like proving it for car rental.

Depends what you need and where you wish to use it will then open up what operators can supply. Hope this helps.

Do you mean you would like to rent someone else's rib (as the customer) or you would like to rent out your own rib (as the supplier)?

rib rental

We are the new agents for Capelli cabin ribs and boats in the South West and we already own a rib, so we were looking at the possibility of renting them out, we live in teignmouth Devon, which is a traditional holiday area. Just not sure if insurance costs legal requirements are prohibitive????

I've amended the thread title to avoid confusion.

There are a few places that do bare boat charter, but not many. I would personally like to see a lot more!

The boats will need to be coded, but I would guess that the two main challenges are likely to be insurance, and people mistreating the boats.

When you think about what gets done to ribs by their owners, it's scary to think about rentals

Just think - if Codprawn used to launch his rental cars - ribbers might just beach 'em on the slip
