Plate for ships register details on transom

Just had our rib registered and need to get plate made for the transom. Has anybody had to do this and if so what material did you use for the plate.

I'd have thought Redbay would soon sort that for you...?

I got our local woodcarver to chisel the numbers onto a teak plaque about 6" x 4" - not a lot of dosh, looks different and easy to maintain. It's fitted inside the boat where it can be seen easily. Been open to the elements for 7 years and still looks good :-)

I was thinking Data plate....
Although I know Ribcraft will do etched signs "in house" if you need/want them

These guys will do them in teak, brass, stainless - whatever you need.

Have used them for these before - so they should know what you are talking about.

Plaque is bolted to blue locker cover with stainless allen bolts.

(We'd just dropped some ornithologists on Pladda and took the opportunity to collect some firewood -it being summer!)

But NT 3.42? Realistically? I don't think I'd be happy trying to carry 1.5 Land Rovers around...

The calculation for the Net Tonnage doesn't really work on RIBs I don't think. It weighs 2.3t on the weighbridge.

You're right about the maths - our 9m Ribcraft has NT 1.51 for comparison; this is supposed to be the total mass for passengers and/or other cargo. Oh well, someone in an office has ticked another box... ;-)

How much does your boat weigh it's a bit weird. Is that what net tonnage means ?

It's because we work in the channel and on the French coast we need an LMC cert and they will not accept an SSR.
