Can anybody please recommend which are the most suitable text books to work from whilst studying towards doing the MCA Master 200 oral exam? Thank you.

Here's my question.....

I have an NOE for the Master 200 limited. Since receiving the NOE a few months ago I have upgraded my YM Offshore to a YM Ocean. I have not yet upgraded my ROC to a GOC. Should I take the Limited Oral and then upgrade later by sending in my YM Ocean C of C plus the GOC when I have it OR, re-apply for a new NOE reflecting the fact that I have a Ocean now. If the latter can I send the MCA the GOC afterwards?

Thanks In Advance.

Prior to applying for the NOE I believe that it is required for the GMDSS GOC or ROC to be STCW recognised. What exactly is involved on getting this done? It it enough to have the MCA Basic Safety Training and a discharge book, or is there a sea time requirement?

GMDSS Endorsement

No sea time requirement
No discharge book

What you need is MCA Basic Safety Training and ENG1.

Slightly off topic but I've seen that when advertising vacancies some workboat operators request that potential candidates have attended a stability course or basic ships stability. I've looked around for information but can't seem to find details. Additionally when taking his Masters 200 oral, a friend of mine was asked by the examiner why he didn't have to have a 'high speed endorsement' to drive wind farm catamarans. Any ideas what that was all about?
