Marine delivery

Hi,
Does anyone know what is legaly required to start a boat moving company (By sea ) with regards to insurance etc...
I have my RYA Yachtmaster offshore (commercially endorsed) which is all that companies advertised seem to have.

Thank you

Sorry to be obtuse do you mean as a skipper delivering a boat or as a tug towing somebodies boat!

Either way Public liability insurance comes into it!

Yea, sorry. I was meaning as a skipper on someone elses boat.
I guessed public liability would come into it. Dont know about insurance for the vessel being moved tho. Would it be the owners responsibility or the company that is moving it?

Boat Delivery

The boat would be insured by the owner- its not your responsibility to insure someone elses property, one of our terms and condition is that owners inform insureres that we will be on board and where we are taking the boat in case they imposes any special terms.

Seperatly we have our own company insurance- there are a few insureres who do a skippers public liability

Talking about delivery, my Landy is "Poorly" and I need to tow a Donzi 26 from Devon to the Midlands. Anyone one know of an Insured Person for road towing delivery? Boat has its own trailer so it just needs a 3.5t tow vehicle. I have been let done by the loan of a 4*4 Disco!!!

Its been a while since I was working on a freelance self employed basis but best starting point would prob be

Heath Lambert, Bene Bennet was who I dealt with, also try those below, I got quotes from them some time back- not sure if they still do skippers liability

COMPASS INTERMEDIATIES - moving office shortly so it may be best to try the mobile in the first instance.
