Hi Doug
I know its the start of the busy season , but it is only one day at the start of the season plenty of time to catch up on any lost earnings.

Also water temp is still low this time of year The BKSA suggested the dates/location and Paul Glatzel has kindly agreed to host the event and more people will be able to attend if it is held on a weekend .I don't mind giving up a weekends worth of tuition if I am going to learn something that I feel will be useful when I am teaching Safety Boat and IRB courses. If the event proves popular then their is no reason why others cannot be held during the year. I am just waiting to hear about costings so people can book and pay in advance remember it is 12 people maximum so if there is a big take up it may be held over 2 day's let me know if you are still interested .

Tim

Understand everything you say, the three full time staff here would all like to do the training, however we can't make that weekend and generally cant do weekends during the season, please keep us in mind if a second date becomes viable.

Best Regards

DOUG

We hope that a DVD Powerpoint presentation can be made from this so useful when teaching Safety Boat will have to see .

Once I have all the costs I will advertise again fingers crossed this will happen again either at Poole or by region .

Slightly longer answer

How ever they are happy for a seminar to be run by the Kitesurfing association in rescue techniques this would be open to RYA Safety Boat Certificate Holders, RLSS UK Clubs and any independant lifeboat organisations .

If Paul Glatzel is happy to host the day then it could still happen there would be a cost to all participants to cover overheads I for one am still interested in attending this type of event as it is related to my Beach Lifeguard training for Inshore Rescue Boats and is a discussion topic in the Safety Boat Syllabus.
Hope that answers any questions and as said 8 spaces left at the moment

Spoke to BKSA today one point made was the need not to bring knives with you, as all the rescue scenarios will not need them.

The kite surfeing harness carries its own approved safety blade enabling the kitesurfer to cut themselves free.

The BKSA will bring enough rope (Spectra) and their own knives to demo how to cut.
The day will involve a brief intro to kit and lines and theory of Kitesurfing
Common injuries associated with kite surfing
On the water rescues for different conditions/injuries (Most of the Day)

Still a couple of places left if anyone interested.

I didn't know that! Although that scenario does rely on the kitesurfer being conscious/capable of using the blade.

I still carry my own when doing safety cover for these events - although I can understand they don't want the risk of a wannabe Rambo - or anyone inadvertently cutting the kite... they're not cheap!

Cheers, WMM

the course sounds like a biriliant idea. what prior qualifications do you need to go on it. i kitesurf a little with liv kitesurf (liverpool student kitesurf body)and also have a rib and we have had them both out at the same time. i have never had to rescue a kitesurfer yet but would love to know the best way.
