Insurance hike for instructors

Just a quick one,
Heath Lambert have put up the Coaches Indemnity Insurance by almost 400%
the RYA are fighting this as is a voluntary scheme, and no reported accidents or claims, for years, a representitve will be visiting various training centres
to see their set up and do a risk assessment, The RYA are fighting this and hope to have the amount returned to it's previous level.I will let you know the outcome.

load of crap that was
real story is even though they have put up the insurance what they are actually doing is trying to put a package deal together for schools,so insurance for boats and public liability is all on the same policy for training and then if schools have other activities additional premiums to be paid for that specific activity Ithink its a good idea spent a couple of hours with a rep from Heath Lambert going over risk assesments , safety policies and such (worse than a bloody inspection)but the idea is very good and could actually be a cheaper option
