Finding Commercial Work...

Hi all,

I appreciate that the commercial guys on here will be reluctant to give away any secrets but where do commercial operators find their work? There now seems to be more companies specialising in RIB charter than ever (survey, guard duties, crew transfer etc) but this must stem from somewhere... Is there an illusive place where contracts are advertised or is it a case of reputation, word of mouth and old fashioned advertising?

Cheers

Back when I owned charter RIBs, the majority of my work came from recommendations and enquiries through my website.

Solent RIB charter (who also own Commercial RIB charter) were advertising for freelance staff for their pontoon hire business the other day. Lots of the staff seem to cross over between the three businesses - could be a good inroad.

I did some safety boat work with them on a floating pontoon job, great guys to work with.

are you looking for work as a driver or are you trying to get work for your boat?

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

Rouge Wave - I was considering the possibility of putting my passenger/sightseeing boat to work over the winter months as it seems crazy having a coded boat sat idle for half the year!

Commercial work is fairly limited in my neck of the woods hence me wondering where/how people come by contracts in the first instance.

Cheers
