engine performance small hp to boat size

Hi,
Considering a 100hp engine on a Halmatic Arctic 22. Does anyone have any experience of the performance of this size boat with a releatively small engine size.

Thanks for any advice.

I don't think it will be enough - arctic is quite a heavy boat.

Hi thanks for reply, just to clarify not looking for top performance but would want to get on plane with 4 people in and ideally get up to 30kts with only 2 people. Do you think this would still be underpowered?

A 100 4s engine would be too small for this boat.

Hello,

We did a load of trials with the Merc 115hp 4 stroke when it came out, we used an old A22. It was ok, i think from memory it did about 32-34knt light.

I would have thought a 100 on a boat that heavy would have been a false economy. You will prob end up using more fuel than a larger engine as you will probably end up running at WOT pretty much every where you go.

100hp will struggle. If i run on one engine (150hp) it will push the boat along at about 30kts, with any load it would be sluggish. Its a heavy rib and needs the hp to get it up on the plane. I would suggest if you going for a single you really want to be thinking of 175 - 200 hp.
