CRB Checks?

How easy to arrange?
How quick?
How much?

As an employer, would you expect employee to arrange and pay or meet the cost yourself?

Thanks
Steve

I had to have one done to coach rugby (honest!), Disclosure Scotland was the cheapest and quickest by far, easy to do apply online.

Is there a legal requirement for you to have CRB checks on your employees?

You're probably best getting your own rather than relying on the fake one your serial rapist employee provided

why do need your staff to have CRBs? Do they work with unaccompanied children?youths?
Or is it for your own piece of mind? We have them at the zoo but only because we work within schools and have schools and colleges visit. We dont have to be CRB checked by law its an optional thing and the trust pay for it.

I don't think there is a legal requirement,

However as always you have a duty of care towards your customers that you employ fit and proper people if they provide a service on your behalf.

or I could be completely wrong )

Schools pay around £70 for an enhanced CRB check which allows unrestricted access to children under 16. For an "ordinary" check the cost is around £20, this allows accompanied access to young children & un-accompanied access to over 16s & vulnerable adults. Normally the employer pays & it has to be renewed every 3 years. Capita carry out the checks, normally takes 4 weeks.

just as a point of interest i had a meeting today with RNLI manager and RNLI educators we no longer need CRB checks for our work within schools or other educational facilities. Cant quite see why you would need them, unless you are working unsupervised with children or youths.
