Bosiet / opito sea survival

Hi all

I need to get my BOSIEST or OPITO approved sea survival course done sharpish..

There are dozens of options for me to do the course in Aberdeen for a reasonable fee, but ideally I'd like to get it done somewhere nearish to Poole - so Devon, Dorset, Hampshire or even Gloucestershire would suit me better.

Does anyone know where I might have a chance?

Already tried Warsash but I thought they were a bit pricey...

I doubt you are going to find this for wildly less than a £800 inc vat. Sorry! Warsash is closer to a grand.

The course covers sea survival, fire fighting and helicopter evac, among other things.

This kind of overhead attracts a price tag!

Fleetwood maritime college are usually the cheapest once you have removed the cost of accommodation in Aberdeen. But my company got a deal with survivex in Aberdeen and It was less than 800 inc vat but i think that may have been an introductory offer..

RIBase
I'd pay double anywhere else if it means I don't ever have to do it again at a nameless East-Anglian coastal establishment not a million miles from Yarmouth......

The coldest water, biggest wave machine, highest jumps, hairiest-arsed ex naval 'gun carriage' type instructors and a serious sense of humour failure all round....admitedly mine mainly!

When the liferaft failed to inflate and we had to pump the feck** by hand only to be be told at the end of the course that they NEVER arm the thing, thereby saving themselves the re-arming charge I nearly commited a criminal offence but decided said gun carriage carrier type was a serious lump.

Very good thanks for replies. I did the course at Survivex in Aberdeen in the end as I have friends there I stayed with and was able to drive past on my way to and from work. Now dealing with the RYA who decline to accept the BOSIET course as a valid form of sea survival training. Talking of offences I've a good mind to drive over to Southampton and continue my latest conversation with them face to face.

Maersk

I have done my last two refreshers with Maersk as they were a lot cheaper than Survivex for refreshers. Strangely. The yare on the South side of ABZ

re RYA and BOSIET I have been banging my head against that wall for years so good luck let me know how you get on. They will however accept your HSE diver medical.
