Bilge gas alarms for coded boats.

Hi all

I am in the process of coding another one of our boats. We need to put a gas alarm in the fuel tank area under deck. Has any one had experience with gas alarms. Can any one tell the best gas alarm to use which will still be working in 12 months time. I have had different gas alarms on the other boats and they all seem to fail after a short period of time.

check out Nereus Alarms Ltd
Nereus Alarms - Reliable Gas & Petrol Vapour Alarms, Marine Gas & Petrol Vapour Detectors

I think this is the one for the RIB coding level http://www.nereusalarms.co.uk/html/p...for_boats.html

Not the cheapest, we have BEP Marine Systems, Bep Marine 600 Gdl Gas Detector from EC Smith UK Marine Supplier
and I have had to replace three as not fully waterproof but if fitted well with good sealent on the backs and consul they have been OK.

We struggled to find a cost effective one when we coded the Ocean, eventually found a neat piece of kit from a company called Cruz Pro (from New Zealand - hadn't come across them before).

The UK distributor /stockist we used is Energy Solutions - really helpful Energy Solutions - Cruz Pro Instruments

IIRC was £50 mark...we bought the one with the seperate sensor and mounted the gauge on the dash....works too, as I found out when my sender unit plate worked a bit loose on top of the tank....and is still going strong with no issues.....
