Jet Boat Training

Hi Martini, the 9m is a single Hamilton..I would suggest a single is a good starting point on jets, before going on to a twin..it focusses the mind and proves that the outboard engines/ techniques are very different in action and response...ATB Tony

Hi Martini,
If ever you're in Pembrokeshire we'll be happy to show you how it's done. The theory (constant balancing act vectoring the jet & steering) is easy enough, in practice it's a bit tougher - factor in wind & swell & it can be quite a lot tougher . Tim's been driving Ocean Dynamics boats for over 25 years & worked with Shaun White as he developed the early Ocean Dynamics boats. The gutter on Grassholm Island (where that video was taken) is narrower than it looks & even I breathed in the first time I saw the video! If you're up for a challenge then you can't beat an Ocean Dynamics jet boat. Happy manoeuvring! Beth @ venturejet

Hi Beth, welcome to Ribnet

I'd love to find an excuse to head up your way and spend the day playing about! I've been a big fan of OD boats since the early days as well as Tim's driving skills

OD boats are nice but very pricey. I phone up the other day; their basic 8m model is 100K. Ribcraft will do a GRP 10.5 jet for about the same price.

They do them in kit form as well, I'm sure I could knock you one up for much less
