Voluntary safety boat work

It might be better to put this here rather than in the rib talk forum

Does anyone need a hand at any events regarding safety boat work in the south west area? I have just done a weekend at the Iron Man UK event in Sherborne which was great and I hope to help out with the Thundercat racing next year.

I was wondered what else was out there which was not commercial work, sporting / charity events etc..

Cheers,

Mike

Mike,

Not in your neck of the woods I am afraid..............but I am doing Safety Boat cover for the Honda powerboats event in the Isle of Man this weekend. I also did cover for part of RB08 (out of Bangor).
Good fun isn't it?

I went to Sherborne, dorset last week end. We had the lake to our selfs for training on the Saturday - camped overnight and did the event on the Sunday morning along with about 50 kayers. About 1500 swimmers entered the water at about 6am and we did 6 rescue during the event.

I love stuff like this - I find the atmosphere is a lot more relaxed and you get to meet people from loads of different places and background. We had a RYA Powerboat training school, a large team from Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service, several different Lifeguard Units and loads of Local kayakers!

Cheers,

Mike

Hey Mike,

Just a little note to say that if you are interested in getting involved with some experience in safety boating, i am sure that if you go to local sailing clubs etc that go out regularly it could prove to be beneficial for you! Especially with many winter series racing luming!

Enjoy!
