It now looks as if it's really gonna blow-up between here and Southern Ireland over the next 24hrs. Apparently the Plymouth start may be delayed by 24hrs.

They will be in for a rough time around Wales. The weather forecast said the worst areas would be Scotland and the North - guess where the windiest place is yet again - West Wales. Winds currently gusting to 60mph - that's what has woken me up - grr!!!
Just looked at the forecast - Irish Sea increasing Storm force 10 - can't see them running in that!!!

hi everyone!! Posting from my mobile. Some news: well we were lucky to lead the fleet out of the Solent running really well with john lyndseys sr9. In the rough we maintained 54knots running slightly ahead of hot lemon. We ran neck and neck for third position with john in his scorpion until disaster! 8miles of Weymouth we loose one engine down to the fuse box frying. We pulled into Weymouth and left after an hour or so. Then 5 miles exmouth we have problems again!! We pulled into exmouth and worked on it most of the night. Re wired the engines. And improved some things too. We are up and running now. We are planning to trailer it from here to the next stage while we sort out are trim tabs etc. Will up date as I can with photos if poss. A big thanks to tim Meo who now has joined apart of our on land team!!

The wind seems to have dropped to gust speed of 30knots averaging 20knots now, but the wave height is 4.6metres - will they continue round in this?

The wind is hard in the West. There's a fair bit of fetch in the North Atlantic. They'll probably hug the shore running down the South Cornish Coast and start to get it from Lizard Point onwards.

Hi John,
Nothing about this on the RB08 site yet - you seem to be the best source of information about what's going on!
Looks like nothing worse than a westerly 5 up here tomorrow, so I still plan to leave Peel about 0930 to safety boat off the Irish Coast. Any info you get about the restart tomorrow will be appreciated.

Now on the RB08 site
With 6 to 9 meter wave height in the Bristol Channel forecast, today's racing leg has been cancelled.
The fleet is now headed by road to the next port of call Milford Haven.
Boats that decide to go by sea will leave Plymouth at an EDT of 6.00 am tomorrow. There will then be a second start from Milford Haven for the Bangor leg.
The race from Milford Haven to Bangor will start later than advertised.
