RMYC Poole, Cancer Charity Powerboat race

Dear All, it’s that time of the year again for me to send out my begging letter for patrol and rescue boats for our Cancer Charity powerboat race, this year’s race is on Saturday 6th July and will be totally based at the RMYC, Sandbanks, Poole. The safety briefing is at 14.30 with the race at 16.00, this will be followed by a BBQ and prize giving.

For those arriving by road to use the slipway, please remember that Sandbanks can be grid locked by 10.00 on a hot weekend, so please arrive early.

If you are able to help, please would you drop me an email with your boat and contact details.

Thanks - Bob Eddings - foxfire750@btinternet.com

Bob - apart from following you out of the Harbour last Friday...I'm wondering if you can publish the route/course ? . I'm sure I can help but with only a 4m RIbB I'm no use more than a mile or two out .

Pete

Peter, that was no ordinary run, it was the first of the year.

Will publish race instructions when they are approved, but this years course is using 2 triangle laps (A & B) of Bournemouth Pier, Boscombe Outfall buoy, Southborne Outfall buoy and Perenco Wytch.

Smaller boats are useful around the pier area, all will be welcome, safety will be on VHF M2 (P4 on icom).

Regards

Bob

Anyone else supporting this event? Where are you launching, and are you meeting up at RMYC?

Dear All, can I personally thank you all for helping to make our annual cancer charities powerboat race a great success last Saturday, yes the lack of entries was disappointing but those competitors that did support us had a great race and I think the timing was perfect as Poole Bay was mainly clear of leisure boaters.

It looks like we made a small profit which will go towards offsetting some of our annual RYA fees, but the better news is the Bar & Catering had the best day since we took the catering in house back in April 2012, and with the help of Cliff Smith’s raffle which raise £795 we managed to raise £1000 which will be split between Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Thank-you again as without the support of our volunteers we would not be able to run this race.
