Strawford r 13

1 Day before the race started his rib was equipped only with hull deck and balloon.
within 15h the rib has been assembled on the marina seats consol steering wheel compass gps vhf antenna fuel tank diverse hoses a frame electrical wiring etc...........
unfortunatly the baloon has blown off hitting crashing a 3m wave at 85 km/h

it was a winner boat with a 250mercury xs
Mounting lifting 250xs engine marina hurghada

If I remember correctly he was told that was being done a month before the race!

I know Richard and I don't really think he would have driven at a 3 metre wave at 85kph in a strange boat - he has a lot more sense than that!

However, from what I am to understand there were two races.

One is the endurance race (for which there pages upon pages on the net) and the other (and most important IMHO) was the offshore race for which there is no mention by any of the participants (shame).

Do we know who wan? what were the makes of the boats that took place and any other info that is relevant?

It seems to me that this is was just a private get together have fun event (simila to raid tourquoise - nothing new) ... but this is not an international race as it was advertised ... Or am I wrong??

Saying the above ... again well done to all that took part.

Smallest 3M wave that I ever saw, more like 3 Ft!!
Was having a great time, in front of twin engined Rico, behind the Greek boats but pacing with good speed, RIB sitting great, on top of the waves, just passing our check point when - BAM, got bowled out of the boat by a
7.5M bright yellow boxing glove.
So funny to see Bruce comming to my aid driving a 7.5M surfboard with a 250XS on the back.
Seriously - I want to extend a big thank you to all the teams that stopped & gave assistance, It was good to know that when the S--t hits the fan, Ribsters look out for each other - again thanks.
The only reason that the tube parted was poor gluing / weak tube to flange joint tape and not enough preparation.
Great time had, made some great new freinds and met some old ones.
For next year - bring back all races destination to destination as with the first RSRR.
We will be back!!!

Does anyone know this fellow? Melkisadek he sent me the following email and was wondering if it was sour grapes or if anyone had a similar experience?

Say that it was not a rescue team ...........
..... that the route has been changed 3 times ...............
..... it was a big disorder .............
..... people from the French Federation was very very upset
..... Mr: Nicola ANNOYS or Rudy is not able to organise any Rally
..... that 3 Tubes came out from the RIBs hulls ........ this RIB's are made in Egypt
..... that the first stage was cancelled because it was not enough fuel not because of the weather condition ........... lies they said
..... that at the last day hotel (el Ganna) was full and racers has to sleep together
