It is a pascoe SR8 - slightly modified for rough water.

What happen in Zeebrugge? For some time that Pascoe was almost as fast as that Red Osprey Lynx but all of a sudden the Pascoe slowed down. Was the weather too rough?

Almost as fast!!! for six laps, we had to look back to see the osprey.
We had a truly fantastic race with them, head sea they would catch us, following & beam sea we would pull away. RIB racing at its best - right up to the point when our port trim tab decided it had taken enough of a pounding and jumped ship - straight through the prop. Down to 35knots to get a finish.
Not bad for a 200Ho dont you think?
Had a great time, thanks to all - we will be back next year for sure.

At Zeebrugge there were two nice battles. between the two scorpion cabin ribs who kept the same distance between eachother the whole time and between you and that red Osprey.

The place we were laying was probably where he was catching up with you.

What is the top speed of ribs in this class?

With 200 HP - 75mph, with 250 / 300 should be around 80.

Similar speeds to Richard - with an XS200 73 - 76 mph and up to 84 with a 2.5EFI 280, but hope to get more up at Coniston!

If you want this kind of hull and a fast rib. Do i have to go for a race merc? Is the 250 e-tec or 250-300 4-stroke good for fast speeds?

Or must i have the merc on a light boat like this?

As per my PM, the Mercury Offshore leg (actually the mid section) comes in a 15", and to my knowledge is unique, having the powerhead and the centre of gravity so low helps with the handling of a boat. The next option I would consider would be the lightest possible 20" engines such as the Merc XS250 or XS300, and after that the heavier engines which I assume would be the 4 strokes.

The engine I would therefore recomend would be the 280hp 2.5EFI with a 15" mid section.
