Proposed Cowes (UK) to Monaco Race 2013.

I 'did' the LONDON to MONACO 1972 -- ALL '##%*%£#' miles of it as a member of the 'JAFFA ORANGE' mob. I was 'young' then. It was a logistic nightmare, but the ADVENTURE of a LIFETIME. I cannot recommend it too highly -- sorts the MEN from the BOYS. Mike BELLAMY, Eddie Chater and Jim Booker will back me up on this. Mike took them down the 'Chenal du four' (east of USHANT) at FULL CHAT and 'H.T.S'. won that leg to Brest !!! 'JAFFA' (Richard LAWSON) won eight of the legs but did not win overall. NOT without an incident (or two). There is no doubt it is DANGEROUS, some boats were badly damaged -- 'Canadian Moppie' on the first leg to Cowes for one and another was lost (sunk/stuffed) in the Med. The seas in the Biscay were TREMENDOUS (!!!) -- 'onshore' along the rocky unforgiving north coast of Spain. No chance with engine failure ... There must be a mine of information out there among the 'OLD GITS' who survived. Carlo ROSSI and his son (RIVA Boats, Monaco) for one source. I wish you good fortune in putting this together. Brave lads ... !!! Jim DENHOLM.
