That's not a bad Idea.. we can remove all this from the Rally thread. If JK is about, could you split this thread please as I think that Ed has enough to deal with?

Now that’s quite amusing. Red faced, certainly… spluttering, occasionally.. but little? That is funny. I don’t think I’ve ever been described as “little” except by my old friend and ex-guardsman “Boris”. I’m not sure whether to be insulted or amused….

Why should I have an idea that I am not welcome? Ed has extended an invitation and I have a craft capable of running. I have not “poured bile” on the organisers? From what has been posted here, Rupert is not an organiser and Ed made that quite clear.

Can’t understand that I get wound up by little “toe-rags”, who lie, threaten, fail to act honourably and enjoy abusing people less fortunate than themselves, or if the story is not true, which has yet to be denied, at the very least find it amusing?

Cheer up? This IS me being cheerful…. You wait till I get depressed….

And for the very, very last time, for those of you seem to keep missing this… GOOD LUCK, ED! …and I do mean that.

Excellent Big Jono...it's all best wishes for a great event

I shall hopefully get some photos unless I get drowned in the wash.

All the best

I think a lot of people on here share his red face spluttering but he is putting it so well, anything we add would be superfluous.

Having said that, the only thing I would add is that the elitist attitude exhibited by those supporting this ‘rally’ only shows them for the out of touch group they are and they are claiming that this 'rally' will broaden the appear of the sport in the publics mind yeeeearr right Des

Now be fair Des...! Just 'cause they have a "no stinking diesel" policy there's no need to have a downer on them.....

Aww come on Des, if there are some spectators seeing a few Ribs out there and they get so enthused and go out and buy one, surely that's at least one positive point for you?

Then again, if they see my Ribeye breaking up under Tower Bridge with all that wash, (biggest waves it will ever see) then they might buy a hard boat instead.

Who said anything about Elitism. Obviously a lot of you have major chips on your shoulders.

Frankly I think this is a very exciting development and the evidence is in the entries which keep growing day by day. Most charter companies on the Thames are booked out by spectators wanting to watch the start.

Press coverage is confirmed and also TV coverage. If this doesnt broaden the appeal I dont know what will.

A lot of rib netters efforts to dampen down the event are simply not working and many people are reading these posts and thinking that looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

There will participants from all around Europe and the States which have a particular following for all things gumball.

why is everyone getting so hyped up about a cocktail party!

just used that as an example! I am not standing by Spectre racing as a best buddy...his style of confrontation is not regarded as a world beater by any standards...and he is not a solicitor...in fact he would have the worst legal mind ever. I met him whilst he was in the Navy and whilst I was in the Army.

as for me being 'upper class'...well yes I am, and it does not mean that I have pulled the wool over my eyes and think that the rest of the nation are 'scum' or 'chavs'...in fact I openly mix with all manner of people and the common thread is that I take people for what they are and not what they seem.

Ed is doing a great job on this, and full credit to him. Rupert isnt doing the best job at the moment with his arrogant overtures but then again, that isn't the whole picture of him, and on a social level...he does like his cocktail parties...but surely that is allowed?
