Around The World Race

Not against other boats (this time!) but against the toughest competitor known to man, TIME!!!! We have to beat 61 days 23 hours and have been working hard over the last couple of years to bring this together and we are nearly there. We are starting to build the all new 80 foot wave piercing RIB very soon and it is expected to have its first and only Sea Trial in August where we will test her to Canada and New York before giving her a bit of a blast back across the Atlantic and beat our own World Record that we set in 2001.

The circumnavigation is planned for November / December 2011 and with a designed average speed of 27.7 knots and only four fuel stops a sub 40 day challenge is possible and this is what we are aiming at. (22500 miles. 1 day for each canal. 4 x 8 hour fuel stops says it can be done)

We are having the boat built in the Midlands by a metal worker rather than a boat builder. Boat builders have a habit of doing as they think right rather than what the owner wants and we need a huge input to make sure its right, or as close to right the first time. I admit that my intial choice was early March (or at the end of the Southern Hemisphire summer) November is the start of their summer so either is ok with our plans. Its not an easy job planning a trip that has to take in both a summer and a winter especialy this year as everything has gone to crap in Oz and Asia. Alan P

Sounds fantastic. Will there be any video footage of the build itself, preparations and/or the journey broadcast or posted anywhere?

Would love to see it. Surely Sky Disco or the Beeb would be interested.

Most of the TV deals are already done and we have been filming for over a year and kept everything in the "Can" for the right time. There will be a full build thread on here and Facebook so keep coming back for updates.
I will let you know when the new updated website goes live, I have been told that it may be later today.
