I'm thinking of selling my rib so I stop messing around on it and concentrate on buying a house!
Its a 6m Chinook Sea Fury - no idea of age - with twin Mariner 40 engines - 1989 and 1987 - both the 2 cylinder Yamaha built engines.
The hull is great - very deep V profile - very good seakeeping. Few light scratches and dings here and there but no bodged repairs cosmetic or otherwise.
The tubes are old and tired, although they are very heavy duty and even have 4mm thick rubber wear patches running down both sides - so great for diving. The tubes have 3 compartments - bow, port and starboard. The seam between the port and bow compartment is leaking - I recently fitted a huge patch - 1m long by 500mm wide right around this seam. Its not pretty (wrong colour) and not the tidiest job. The rib is still useable - but requires a few pumps of air twice or three times in a long day out - 8 hours or so. If I keep her I'd personally start to consider a retube.
The engines are obviously old, manual start, manual trim / tilt. The port engine has a lighting coil and rectifier built in. This charges a large 85amp hour car battery in the console which runs the electronics - good VHF and navigation / flood lights included - full dash switch panel. Lowrance sounder / GPS by seperate arrangement. The engines have been fully serviced regularly by myself - new impellers, complete new engine mounts on both engines, new gaskets, new plugs in April this year. Rib has done just over 400 miles so far this year without a problem.
Max performance is 32knots so far - thats with 3 people and diivng kit.
The console holds a 100 litre stainless steel tank. The fuel lines, water seperator, twin filters and all electrical wiring was replaced this year.
The rib has a stand up driving position with padded backrest and built in bottle rack which holds 4 15 litre dive bottles easily.
There is a very heavy duty stainless steel A frame.
A rollercoaster 1 trailer with good tyres, new bradley lockable draw hitch and new
suspension / brake units is included.
