"Lt Wilson denied one charge of failing to keep a proper look-out and two charges of impeding the passage of the 830ft long tanker"

The fist charge is rubbish, bloody great red ship like that I guarantee every member of the crew on the yacht would have seen it and knew it was coming a long way off - it was acting on what they saw that was the problem.

I suppose...well...erm...he's not technically guilty of impeding the passage. After all, it's not like hitting his boat damaged it or slowed it down...

Wassup twimmypoos? You don't like it when someone who you misguidedly think is 'your kind of people' makes a pratt of himself in public then compounds it by saying it wasn't him?

It wasn't you was it?

... so the charges are not really valid, the courts need to re think their approach and maybe go for a charge of knob and two charges of wearing brogues.

Shame on you Nos, for having the temerity to suggest that an Ossifer in Her Maje's Navy could get it wrong...

To be fair - it was only the construct, aka the Hand, aka Twim who said that - so please don't tar us with the same brush - we're just having the craic with it

The commentating always cracks me up

However, haven't most of the boats in the same area broke the 3300' exclusion zone

The charge of not seeing it is rubbish, everyone knew it was there but they all took risks and one hit it

So why don't they charge everyone as their sale numbers are clearly visible?

By they way I am not sticking up for the guy who hit it, he's a nobber for sure

As an ex RN officer I find his actions very embarrassing to say the least as even a supply or engineering officer has to undergo a fair amount of sea training prior to fleetboard. I have witnessed quite a few howlers whilst on the bridge of grey funnel line ships and even though people are highly trained and professional, we can all have a bad day leading to an "oh sh@t" moment. I don't think any of will know what he was thinking but im sure he knows he boloxed it spectacularly. It's a cracking video and I'm glad no one was killed but I'm sure he will require a new crew!

I think the issue here is that he broke the rules (which we all have done, who hasn't exceeded a speed limit or parked for too long in a parking space), got caught red handed, and is now trying to worm his way out of it by pleading not guilty. The court case will no doubt cost the taxpayers (us) a fortune.

We don't know what branch he was (Now a reservist according to news last night).

A pilot / supply / engineer / medical officer may not have stood a bridge watch for 5 years or more.
Actually, come to think of it, a Medical Officer may never have stood a bridge watch!

He cocked up and should stand up and take his penalty even if it was a one off. Pleading not guilty faced with that evidence points to him being a muppet!
