Welcome to Ribnet Q, wondered how long it would take you to find us

Still tired after yesterdays drive, was a good day though, I'll put some images up later of our time at the museum.

Some images.

Should mention here that the Museum is excellent, and well worth a visit.
Thank you to George who made us very welcome. Oh and must not forget the lovely Jenny who did the paperwork

Plus I want to Thank Nick, Sailmaker, again for the loan of the SR5.4 trailer.
I moved all the rollers etc out to the sides, and built a wooden platform on top of the various cross pieces that the canoes twin Bilge keels could sit on.
As you can see the trailer board arms on the trailer are quite long, which was useful.

Quentin, now Kewdos , has a Mk2 canoe as well as a Mk6(??).
The Mk2 is plywood and canvas, and packs down flat for transport and storage.

The exhibition itself to launch the book should be in place from early December.

Just can't wait now to get hold of a copy of the book.
The amount of work that Quentin has put in to research, write, and get the book to publication is unbelievable - Well done mate.

1) The Mk2 loaded on top of my Mk9
2) At the museum.
3) Again
4) Both Canoes in the workshop with Quentin and George.

hi Nasher,
ribbed for pleasure.. that made me laugh!
If I was tired you must have been knackered. It will be worth it to see your Fam. at the Museum revelling in the fact Nasher is ace!

My Gunu's are the 'Frankton raid' (Cockleshell Heroes type) Mark 2 and the Mark 7 Aluminium (sailing) with outriggers. The aluminium canoes are Ocean going craft, the mark 7 particularly goes through water like a destroyer. When the mirror dingies come in the Mark 7 goes out such is its pedigree.

Ref the pics, was this the set of Lord of the Rings? Who the hell is the ugly hobbit with Gandalf beside him?

The Mark 9 ( Nashers ) looks fantastic , there is something about the lines and colouring
(its the primer) that make it look suburb. Once the engines fitted Tilley and I want a ride down (and up) the Dart - isn't that right Tilly? How far is the Channel Islands?

How about arriving on the sandbanks (off Cowes) in the canoe for the cricket match?

The true 'special' features of the canoe are better seen when its in bits .. for you guys some images.. hopefully.

pics should be self explanatory. IMAGES ARE COPYRIGHTED. Save questions until book publication, you will understand why post read.

The crazy thing about the 'system' is that I could supervisor someone doing a Phd on this subject matter as I am the (only) expert in the field , yet when I wanted to gain an academic award for my efforts it was not possible because no-one could supervise the project. so if there is anyone out there that could circumnavigate the prob all I want is an Mphil!

regards to all ... the Loon!

Mollers.

Hi, I'm not sure it'll be on show yet, more likely still in the workshop as they are modifying a stand for both Canoes.

I've not had a reply to the message I left about the engine yet, but will keep trying.

Just supposition but I suspect it'll be the wrong engine-a guesstimation would be that it'll be a Norman T600 in the genset (just because all the googling I did doesn't show up anything watercooled in any ww2 gensets)
