Why do they use speed boats (bass boats) for fishing in the USA. they look like they have a very shallow Vee hull

most are used on very calm lakes,and the flat bottom makes for a quick boat to chase the fishies around

Tournament bass fishermen work on a time limit, so need to get from fishing spot to fishing spot quickly (the quicker the better when upwards of $100K is on the line.)

Recreational bass fishermen think they look more "pro" if they have the same rig. 200+ hp on an open 18' boat is fairly common.

They're pretty much useless in anything but flat calm water. But they do move pretty well when conditions allow...
