I'm surprised he's talking to you after you put in the compensation claim!

I'm not sure whether the BananaShark is a particularly appropriate craft for Powerboat Level 2 training to be honest, but I'm sure it's something our customers can aspire to!
Actually if you want to race in Marathon classes now you need to have an RYA ticket, sea survival and a VHF, so training is important - luckily I have some experience and a commercial Yachtmasters so I'm OK!

Ah, I was aware of the training requirements for racing, I still don't think I'd let most of our instructors and students loose in a Bananashark!

Do you think there would be much interest from Marathon racers in doing a package deal of either 4 days for PB2, First Aid and VHF, or a 2 1/2 Day Package of PB2 Direct Assessment, First Aid and VHF so they can get their rating?

I would put an offer on Boatmad (ask if it's OK first), and send emails to Home (Round Britain 2012) and the RYA powerboat racing department and let them know what you're offering!

RIBase
I'm on Facebook as well

http://www.facebook.com/aslmarine

I made the decision for ASL Marine Training to have a Facebook page INSTEAD of a traditional website. Time will tell if that was a wise decision or a brave mistake.

We too have been on Facebook, Twitter and TripAdvisor. It is a great way to gain a wider "fan" base and spread the word.
For every clinent that comes out with us and then posts pictures/comments about their own experience on their own page, that then goes on to potentially 100's of freinds.
We also encourage clients to "like" our page and to post pictures & comments

Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More

The only downside, is that you must keep updating and making sure that questions or comments are dealt with promptly, but thats business

I too avoided FB for as long as possible seeing it as the end of traditional comms between friends and family. I really don't like the impersonal "news letter" you receive anally (sic) from people sometimes. Unfortunately, when we started Fleet Dive I realised the benefits and had to succumb. Fleet Dive | Facebook

Would appreciate (and return) any likes.

Oh and IMHO the only benefit I can see from twitter is to use the app to it from FB and use the feed on yr website.

Stormforce I am onto you right now thanx.

Hi

just started to promote the page and happy to swap like etc but do you really get direct business from this? Our site ranks in google and maybe I am being stupid but I just can not see FB having the same results.

anyway Clyde Outboard Services - Local Business - Gourock, United Kingdom | Facebook

dave

ps Its Cameron not me with the new engine, as you would need a v wide angle on your camera to fit me in!

Dave, I would have agreed with you a few years ago, but through The Federation for Small Businesses and also Marine Federation I have attended a few presentations about, facebook, google, twitter and was very surprised at how these sites are continually developing and growing and what surprised me was that the biggest growth is the ages of 25-60 which is usually where the money can be found. As with all these there is an art and I can see many other businesses well ahead with their profiles and therefore more leads/business

As we developed our pages we can see clients viewing images and giving feedback. Slowly I do believe we are seeing some business but Web Site presence and ads with other areas are still generating good work

Recent convert too - Compass Trailers on Facebook

I have to admit, the simple editing, ease of use and instant info does seem a positive.

As above - I'll do some trawling of everyone's on here and do some 'liking' too!
