Which mobile to buy?

Today has been disastrous, Broken floor board and i forgot to put my mobile in the dry bag and just put it in the under seat bag which got soaked. Didn't realise until i got it out at home. Tried drying it off but im not holding much hope especially with it being salt water.

Anyway on a more brighter note is it worth buying one of these so called waterproof phones? Does anyone have one?

Just bung any old (or new) mobile in a small see through waterproof dry bag, couple of quid on eBay.

Don't know that one but I believe the Galaxy is waterproof. But as you say, this was salty and more than a dip.
There are waterproof bags for phones and indeed cases for them too.
Here I think you just have to be sorted beforehand as they are delicate devices in the form of smartphones. JCB do a rufty tufty one, but that's "just" a 'phone.

Today was certainly one of them. all the gear no idea days, Had dry bags and waterproof phone covers at the ready and i was concentrating that much as the tide was dragging me /keeping the boat head on for waves ect it slipped out my mind that the phone wasn't protected. Thinking it may be a good idea and less to remember if the phones waterproof from the start.

Seen the Jcb/Landrover ones but i find Ebay mobile far to handy to live without.

Think there is a new phone on the market that is waterproof and can do underwater pics and video too

I use a secondhand iphone 3gs on a giffgaff pay as you go sim, very very cheep, an if I break it I'll just get another.... again

My Blackberry can't handle any water but the 2 iphones I've had are much better.

The cheep rip seal bags work very well, but if you get a nice case then make sure it has a thick neck strap as the string type cuts in after all day out on the water.

If the Lenovo is not to your taste:

At the cheap end something like a Motorolla Defy Mini (£50 ish, sim free). At the high spec end the Sony Experian Z.

I had a nightmare once when a phone went swimming in a locker! I was late recovering anyway and then got a puncture in the car on the way home. I was worried that as I was now "overdue" Mrs P would call the coastguard and seriously considered using the VHF from the roadside to prevent them launching a search! I ended up running about a mile in my flotation suit (which meant I nearly died of heat exhaustion!) as it was pouring down and I didn't have any other waterproofs with me to get to a phone box!

...but she hadn't though, had she?

Mrs Poly is the kinda girl who could work out your half life with the mean local water temp factored in too - another 3.45 hours and you'd have been "done"...

Go with the Sony, phones are much better since Ericsson moved on and it covers the bases required! It has small covers for charging port do just need to remember to put them in after charging.
