Where to live? Southampton to Poole..

At last me and the family are thinking about upping sticks from N London and moving to the South Coast. Seems crazy not to as I work mostly from home anyway.

Southampton direction is the obvious choice because I need to commute to Milton Keynes every so often (and my Mum's in London).

Where are the nicest locations to live between Southampton and Poole say?

Looking for quiet, scenic, ideally near the sea - a harbour would be good Would be nice to get something better for London prices if possible.

Also considering IoW for the Sea view, walks on the beach...

There are lots of locations along the coast to purchase a nice home. Your problem will be the "quiet". A coastal location is usually very popular and therefore not always quiet.
Lymington was recently voted the best place to live in the UK and prices now reflect this.
Barton on Sea, Highcliffe, Christchurch all have there good and bad locations. You then have the whole of the Bournemouth and Poole sea front. Alot of redevelopment going on, old properies being ripped down and modern designer appartments going up. You will be competing against them.
Dont ignore the riverside options of places like Christchurch/Keyhaven.
Dont know the Southampton area enough to comment.

If you don't mind being 10 mins from the coast, Brockenhurst, in the New Forest is a lovely village and right on the main railway line to London, should you have to travel there with work.

Milford on Sea is my favourite,

Got a couple of pubs and Keyhaven harbour within spitting distance...

Oh and a fish n chip shop, well stacked off licence and a thai restaurant.

Sounds like you may work for the same company as I do, yes I work from home alot these days.

My recomendations would be, Christchurch, Ringwood, Brockenhurst, Milford On Sea, Lymington, .... I live near Ringwood and it's ideal, bournemouth and poole harbour about 20mins away, New Forest about 10mins away, you have the A31 going past Ringwood which gets you to M27 and M3 very quickly, If going to london I tend to drive to Soutahmpton Airport Parkway rather than bournemouth as the train from southampton parkway only takes about 1Hr 10Mins to Waterloo from there, if you get it from Bournemouth it takes an hour longer as it goes through the forest past Brockenhurst.

i would look into hengistbury head area southbourne part of bournemouth you have the head (obviously ) the habour, the river and the sea all within 15 mins walk of each other, 2 bed bungalows are around 250ish and decent size houses are 370ish nice area to be in.

Isle of Wight every time great place great people diverse coastline countryside plus you get alot for your money .
