Agreed - even by our usual wet standards this is taking the proverbial.

We had 2 stunning days but it has rained without stop for the rest of the time - and not just light rain - torrential downpours. The rivers look like they normally do in December!!!

Sunny today though.........

The rainfall was DOUBLE what it should have been - the wettest since records began in 1766 - this is NOT normal..............

It is taking the piss now , but on a positive note there has been some decent surf about , yesterday was quite big for the south coast and my surfboard only uses about one pasty a day

You don't need a surf board for surfing, just come down to St Anns with your rib when there's a sensible wind from the south west - plenty of surfing opportunities and you don't even have to get wet if you get it right

WTF would you know about 'maritime climate'?! Existing in Central Shitesville.

Take your mind of the rainy weather by and have a few of your pies or pasties or whatever they are as I understand you are rather proud of your town's association with them.

Where is your weather station - in a shed?

Can't find the monthly figures for Swansea but so far this year it's 1263.4mm - yours is 304.8mm. I know Swansea is wetter than most but surely not that much of a difference?

Last year's total was 2335.86mm - remember there are still 5 months left for this year's figures.

In 2000 it was only 788mm and 2001 was 1067mm - we are getting almost 3x more rain now than we used to!!!

To put that into perspective I found this:

"Most of Brazil has moderate rainfall of between 1,000 and 1,500 millimeters a year, with most of the rain falling in the summer (between December and April) south of the Equator. The Amazon region is notoriously humid, with rainfall generally more than 2,000 millimeters per year and reaching as high as 3,000 millimeters in parts of the western Amazon and near Belém."

So Swansea get's as much rainfall now as most parts of the Amazon - no wonder our trees are thriving!!!

This is actually really scary reading - we have gone from just under 1m of rain to over 2m of rain a year and it keeps going up - help we are all going to drown...............

On top of a pole next to the dock entrance infact. We have 2 other stations, 1 at Pembroke, and the other down at Watwick, and they both read similar figures, although there is more rainfall recorded at Pembroke than Milford, and Milford records more rainfall than Watwick (less as you go down river and out to sea...).
The one down at Watwick should give some interesting wind readings this october as it's at the top of a rather tall tower which is completely clear of any land surroundings.

Just seen some figures for August - we have already had more rain than the whole of Aug last year - and that was the wettest on record - we aren't even half way through the month yet!!!

Well last summer was the wettest since records began 250 years ago - and this year is even worse so something has gone wrong somewhere!!!
