Warning to Drivers in the South! Please read!!

For those of you traveling around the South, a friend has provided the
following....
Hants Police are doing for a television programmed series from tomorrow
(26th September) for seven weeks.

If you use the M27 or the M3 this potentially affects you so please
proceed with caution and pass onto anyone who you feel might just need to know.
The program a BBC South commission called "Traffic Cops" will be filmed
covering the area from Ringwood concentrating on Ringwood M27 up to M3
J9 and a team working the ring road around Southampton (Totton will have a
unit working it alone), Cosham M27 stretch to J5 of the M27 (Southampton
Airport turn-off). The fourth concentration is working from Winchester Services covering M3 to J10 M3 (Winchester South) using five unmarked cars, two Skoda 03 registration Octavias, an 05 plate dark red Mondeo and two Volvo saloon cars.

The BBC unit are going to be based out of a unit in Millbrook Road in
Southampton and will also be covering the armed police response unit and
the Southampton Airport Police Security / British Transport Police
team.

The BBC team are in Citreon Picasso MPVs leased from Arriva.

To make it even more effective the Traffic police have authority from
Chief Constable to "work to rule" So instead of the laid back approach to the
usual Hants traffic police this will be a lot more concentrated to make
it effective filming.

great...

I use the m3 and m27 every day and have a feeling I'll be nabbed doing 71mph for the benefit of telly....cant wait to appear on South Today, will make my mum so proud. The octavia cars are all the VRS (?) or whatever the sporty ones are - seen them pull a few people over on the 27...

heh heh. Tell him I got it sharpened up ready for him

Nope, unfortunately got a land based event, but my boat may be out there driven by Mr Mayhem. It's gonna be wet!!!

In the meantime, getting nicked @ 71mph by a Skoda, and seeing yourself on prime time TV ain't gonna cut the credibility stakes at all. Might as well get done for a ton. Respect!!

wet

nick reckons 5/6 on friday - hope we've got some foulies for them! Dont know about you, but my boat took a pounding on the way back from cowes last week. I've always known that the 7.8 is a dry but hard boat and true to form, when we got back to Lymington we were as dry as a nuns you know what but the ballistic knows how to compress your spine in the choppy stuff - how did your cobra get on?

As for speeding, you're right, if your gonna go down, go down in style, although not sure my boss will appreciate me working from home as I see out the ban! Just have to be extra careful for the next few weeks..

Cobra was dry too, but mindful of shrinking the spines and losing the 3 rearmost bench seated punters over the side, i didn't drive it too hard. So, every bang I expected a shriek, and hearing none, I pressed on. Only ran about 25-30 knots though. Curs-ed Solent chop! When I got back and asked if all was OK, they wanted more! Barking mad the lot of 'em.

Yes, the ballistic is a hard ride. I know a certain charter company that bent the shafts on their Yammies a couple of years ago when they first got ballistics. But they grip like bugger all else in the turns - if that is what you want. They are also quicker (in my experience) than most with less hp. The trade off is::: a harder ride!

End of commercial for Ballistic. I shall think of you on Friday as I drive my air conditioned minibus around Oxfordshire! (for about 2 secs)

I thought there was a waiting list the length of the clyde for the rr sport...do like the look of them but after clarkson said they were built for footballer's wives or drug dealers I've always been a bit put off...lot of dough as well for a car that isnt that quick...

Why? cos its Hampshire Fuzz that are now going to be minor celebs not the Oxfordshire lot. Expect sales of Raybans to be high in the next few weeks as they all pretend to be Chips or Starsky and Hutch

Don't think you can, at least you can't in a disco 3, you've gotta go to SE
and anyway the 3 is much better than a RRS! (reaching for tin hat now)

the 3 is by far and away the best workhorse and family car 4x 4 on the market today ,

but it is no substitute for a rangeeee

lets face it when someones got a new rangeee they ait short of a bob or two , and nomatter what any other manfacture trys they just cant match the image of a rangee
