Video Software

Anyone know of any reliable software for converting DVDs to mswmm files or WMV (maybe the same thing?). Is there anything available in the shops or only via download. There seems to be some on the net but would prefer to use something that someone has tried and found to be good.

Thanks

Have a look at cucusoft.

Also ipod software is quite good. But to tell you the truth converting a DVD to anything takes a lifetime and you don't always get good results. Lipsynch being one of the problems.

Why do you need to convert DVDs to wmv ?

But it doesn't make windows wmv files.

Thats why I was asking what he wanted to do with them. Might be a better solution.

Its an old problem of trying to use a Sony DVD camcorder and be able to edit the results on the PC. The problem is that it doesn't have a USB lead or firewire facility so someone told me you can use software to rip the DVD to turn it into WMVs. But, you're absolutely right, I experimented with something off the web today and the two problems I noticed were the time it took and lipsync!!! Looks like I have to face the prospect of swapping the camcorder for a DV tape. Anyone want a dvd camcorder? Open to offers.

Exactly the conclusion I came to. Sorry to say that DVD camcorders are just a bad idea.

I know you're right Richard, just trying to stave off the inevitable!
