Vector files

Now I may be talking complete bollox, but here goes.....

When we started out three years (where's that gone?) ago, on a gtight budget and with just one commission in the pipeline I designed our logo and knocked up a wordpress website...... Time has come to smarten up

We are having a website doine and I need to provide 'vector' (?!?) files for the business logo etc. I also need these to get more signwriting done etc..... In the dim and distant we passed my scribbles to a signwriter who did this for us, but who has since gone out of business and so we are left without the neccesary format.....

I have some images of the logo, know what fonts they were (if memory serves) and wondered if anyone on here wanted to /was able to knock us up the neccesary vector (if thats what we need) files from the bits and bobs we have..... I am fully aware that this is probably a daft way of going about things and that it may be a big ask???? Happy to pay or barter if we have anything you need.....

Can anyone help?

I have just had a look at what a Vector File (VF) is and you are talking good stuff.

The VF is a .SVG format (Scalable Vector Graphics) which is used in printing applications.

There are a number of different software packages that can create these (for MAC, Linux & WINdows), some of which are available for free.

I have never used any of these but I am self taught on Photoshop and now teach this adult education classes so I can't imagine it is too difficult to learn. I was an IT professional for 34 years and am quitee used to finding my way round bits of software to get them to do what I want.

If you don't get anyone offer I would be quite to try using some free software to create what you want.

I don't know your timescales but I am on holiday in September (9th - 23th).

Vector files are basically outline paths. When the logo is in this format it can be scaled to any size with no loss of resolution. Most logos will be in Adobe Illustrator format... once you have it in this format - you never need to look at it again. It's transferable in EPS or PDF format, etc.

I can probably make something up for you if you want. Only problem will be the font. I'm restricted at work to downloading and installing fonts - but might be able to blag something. Looks a bit like Foundary Monoline - which we used to use for Land Rover ads, however you can confirm which one it is.
