Urgent help needed

Hi All
I am trying to help my elderly Uncle in Yorkshire. He discovered , yesterday that his Barlays bank account was missing 300+ pounds. Went to the bank and they said it was a direct debit from a JS Sainsbury online Store. He does not have a credit card only a debit card. The bank say's it is not their problem. I am totally out of date on UK banking sytems. Does anyone have any advice on how I can help him resolve this.
Thanks in advance any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tony

He needs to tell the bank he disputes the charge, and tell them they are to provide him with a copy of the MERCHANTS (Sainsburys) processing docket, also he should contact sainsburys and instruct them to supply him with the delivery address the goods were shipped to. He should also get the bank to cancel the card and issue him with a new one with a different number. The banks will always say its nothing to do with them, you have to force them, they are required to provide the info and if they or sainsburys have fouled up they will have to repay the money.

Thanks again Richard. Your advice worked perfectly. One addition to the procedure it that you must contact the police and file a crime report.
Regards
