Topical Issues

I was dissapointed that the 2nd Jimmy Saville thread got canned just as it was getting going ... lighten up admins .. a good forum is great for all the topics on it which we all want to read about .. but .. some orf piste engagement is also highly necessary ...... us bruvvas want some solidarity we doo .. we want the management to accept that .. or else we'll just post boring shit about props and stuff .. but then ... the class room will empty ... except for bolt tightners and torque analysers stroll on

It must be said there's no place on this earth for the disgusting likes of JS. and any joke relating to him in the first thread was intended to totally disrespect him and his kind, and definatley not ment to offend his victims.

And after all... ain't no smoke without fire

personally I can't and will not entertain any type of joke aimed directly at the victims.

Very disappointing, it's the uses that make the forum, give it its value and offer a wealth on information for noting - as soon as something gets a little racy their treated like 5 year olds, I think they deserve a little more respect, there was no need to close the last thread.

I see they are talking about a 4th celeb being involved in the JS ring now, but haven't named them yet.
It could just be the tip of the iceberg? Now pop stars are starting to get dragged in as well, I am sure there will be lots of tales from that area?

Reading between the lines on the this, the Third and the Second Great Jimmy Savile Threads, I think a few of you have missed the point.

The threads weren't pulled because they weren't PC (read the Jokes thread on here ) or because they were disrespectful to the victims, crude and tasteless though they undoubtedly were. No, they were removed and closed because they were most certainly lowering the overall "quality" of the forum and were creating a mess that you'd then expect the mods to go in and tidy up. We have enough work to do around here without that too. (FYI, this pointless thread has ruined the ONLY coffee I'm allowed today, so thanks Muz!).

And while I'm addressing the OP, I couldn't help but have a peek at his own forum and guess what? Yep, no Jimmy Savile Thread on there today either. I may just have to pop over and start one...

I would expect that any further posting here about Celebrity Paedophilia will result in:

1. The locking or removal of the thread

2. Yellow Cards

I use RIBnet to get away from the crap associated with daily life and to think about RIBs and to read and I quote

Much as I agree in that I did join to help/be helped and learn more regarding the wonderful world of Ribs, I can also see the reason why there is a need for such threads as unfortunately it does reflect today's society and people do wish to vent! But this particular one was to me anyway well below acceptable standards and was at times using language/themes which really do not have any place in a Forum such as ours here in Ribnet.
My tuppence worth and rant over

Agree with Boris, I come on here for the boaty stuff. It's a great site for anyone to find information regarding boats +, the other stuff should be kept on fb etc not aired on here.

No, enjoy a bit of banter! It's just the stuff that could be termed a bit distasteful or upsetting to some people that the savile thread was in danger of doing. There's a thread running about Lance Armstrong going at the moment that's not getting anybodys back up!

Yep plus one to that see my earlier thread, it was just going in the wrong direction and could have upset someone and that is not what this forum is about. Banter by all means but laugh with people not at them!

Armstrong cheated in a bicycle race, JS allegedly raped and molested young girls, slightly different don't you think, if someone won a race by cheating I'd get over it pretty quickly, is someone fiddled with my little girl I'd never get over it.

I think one or two of the mods (well one actually) is/are a bit quick with the red pen. I recently had my legs slapped & posts "Modded" because I referred to the mass, low quality production, of RIBS (yes! the post was actually RIB related) by persons from the "Land of the Yellow River", but not in so many words. I was accused of being racist

Was a certain Mr B Springsteen being racist when he sang?:-

"Got in a little hometown jam so they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land to go and kill the yellow man"

I doubt the Washington Redskins & all their followers are racist.

How come "Gangsta rappers" can use the "N" word, but I can't? Is it because I is white?

Am I racist for being a white man? if I am then I apologise, but there's not much I can do about it.

Ohh humm!
