As always its personal taste .. from the ones Ive tasted I would refer to them as an after dinner malt if I skipped desert because I find them sweeter and better rounded.. but massive body all the same .. If you like rye's then it might not be your cup of tea, but theres only one way to find out I actually think they embody what some of the really old stuff actually tastes like.. I think thats the methodology behind their excellent work. As we know the Japs are excellent at copying other skills/products .. only sometimes they can do it better and thats saying something as a guid Scotsman ! I think they've found a way of synthesising age, in a much shorter time frame than real time allows .. thats about the best way I can put it

Well Gennlemen ... tonight I'm trying a 'Benromach Peat Smoke' No age statement.

I think the market has gone a bit mad for this type of dram. Its intriguing in the same way as Caol Ila .. light straw in colour, but packs some punch.

Personally I find it a little bitter, the label suggests lemon peel and even bourbon ? .. but I dont get that at all,... but smoke is generally acrid .. and I get that pretty light on body otherwise but that said one of my kids came in snivelling the other day and Ive started sneezing so A: my taste buds might be going off, and B: I need this medicinal dram to sort them out and generally I'm a Friday and Saturday whisky sampler only, so tonight is a 'bonus'
