It happened on the south side of Lac des Mille Lacs, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, on May 11, 2013! It destroyed more than 20 houses in 15 minutes! The ice looked like legs creeping up to residences.

Amazing piece of video, but would you not be digging the front away from your house or trying to, rather than videoing it getting closer.
