What does 50% up front with remainder upon completion mean to you?

To me it means pay half now and half when the job is complete. Am I stupid?

A customer walks into a bar, pays for half a deck, the deck is laid and the job completed, I take money - the customer phones me up, tells me how wonderful the job is and then says how disgusting it is that I took the other half of his money.

Is it me?
