I see the camera partnerships advocate that the speed limit is not a target, but a recognised miximum .. which ofcourse was set many years ago when we drove on crossply tyres, drum brakes, with no ABS etc etc .. anyway .. whilst I was doing my HGV test many moons ago .. we were always told to accelerate up to the maximum speed as soon as possible, as the examiner would fail you for 'lack of progress' if you didnt !

Don't know if laws still the same as years ago when I got off with 4 speeding tickets over a short period of time
1st - picture was not clear so was enhanced to show who was driving flung out of court as picture is not to be tampered with
2nd - old 2 wires across the road and time/ distance machine, I asked to see calibration cert and it was out of date
3rd - trafic officer could not prove his identity to me so I drove off ( no warrant card and no numbers on his uniform) I got stopped 1/2 mile later by other plods but was not speeding then. They tried to get me for not stopping but sherif flung it out!
4th - wife was in labour
Got an escort to hospital with blue lights and sirens etc
Also got a warning that if I was ever caught doing 125mph again I was going to jail !!!

Was also told by a traffic plod that car speedo are allowed to be up to 12% inaccurate so do the maths on the posted speed limit !!!!

I dont mean to throw more garlic scented oil onto this fire but here in France, during December, if you were done for speeding you had a chance of being "let off".

Reson being that the government used to organise a sort of lottery with a selected hundred or so speeding fines being dismised. It used to be called "La Grace" but unfortunately Mr Sarkozy put an end to it....Bas**rd

At least one thing is good here and that's that wherever a speed camera is installed, there will DEFINATELY be a largish warning sign exactly 500meters beforehand.

You have to keep a good eye out for the signs though cus the fecking camera's can be pretty discrete.

My mum (63) got two tickets in 10 mins on the same mobile camera in and out of the village. She wrote a letter of complaint and they removed one.

Right .. so got the points on the licence and informed my car insurance company which is Swiftcover.com ... which I had just renewed ... This year my insurance renewal from them dropped by £100 (without my intervention ) for the 57 plate X5 to £340 which I though was pretty good ! including protected no claims and legal cover etc So fearing the worst I updated my online certificate with the correct offence code and was pleasantly surprised to find out I only owed them an extra £18

phew !
