Don't know about manchester but Leeds is black bonnet white car, and Cardiff is the otherway round I think. They have normal private hires too - so assume they can pick up on the street if they have odd bodywork!

In an attempt to re-finish a Land Rover on the cheap, an acquaintance of mine used the IR-absorbing matt black paint that is sold in 25 litre drums ex-MoD. It looked as you might expect, but some traffic lights wouldn't detect the car was waiting at the lights due to the reduced IR signature.

I had a 1973 Range Rover that was painted matt black and had dayglo orange wheels grills etc - I used to drive it to Val D'Isere when I was working out there as a ski guide - I put a few stickers on it and I noticed that people would add their own stickers! I thought it was quite cool and when it started to become a bit of a rust bucket we converted it to a Dakar Jeep - great vehicle and I'm quite certain the paint had no detrimental effect on the performance!

I had a 1984 cavalier which was blue with a white bonnet due to it being replaced after a small engine fire moment....

I was working in stoke on Trent at the time..where the taxis were blue with a white bonnet....I could have made a fortune!!!!

When I owned a couple of black cabs before becoming a council waller, private hire was and still is a dirty word and definitely not to be called "Taxi's"

Think "challenge Aneka" but this time concentrate on the 4x4 she used to drive and not on her lovely a*se! Lol

I had never heard of, nor seen, Challenge Anaka before. So I had to watch a couple of minutes on Youtube to get an idea.

Now this is a Jeep! Although I am not fond of anything newer than say 1975, and the 1950's are where it is at. Willys!

If you are going to be talking about Discovery's could we make it this one? (Wonder if there is silicon, and what other enhancements were involved in the "design" and "conversion"?)

That's the thing! Looks like there are a couple of opportunities for enhancement on there!
