I have travelled all over the World - and I have yet to see this bridge!!! Something I must remedy soon!!!

Well it is quite a structure, but I wouldnt like to guess how much they spend on it to keep it in shape

If you get chance to go and see it. Take a good look from ground level around South Queensferry. Then pop up to the station platform thats on the South side and get a good look at the bridge then. It certainly puts things in to perspective.
And if you've go a boat go for a spin around the supports and adjoining small islands. Seems even more impressive then.
Whatever you do don't park on the slipway at Southqueensferry. But their again RIBNETers shouldn't be doing that sort of thing.

This program was filmed on the North side of the bridge, the companies name who's painting this side is Palmers, We have Pyeroy contractors on our site painting Subsea equipment who also Blast and paint the South side of the Bridge.
The bridge used to be continually painted with Red Lead, but now all the old paint is being blasted off down to the substrate and coated with Glass flake (95 % volume solids) which should last 25 years before needing to be done again.
There is somewhere on the bridge a golden rivet which has still to be found!!!
so the story goes.

Have windsurfed from cramond beach here a few times when in my teens. Always a good hooly blowing through the bridge legs. It is an awesome sight, it makes your neck ache to look at. Also lots of nasty jelly fish and sewage in that water!
