LONDON, 14 Sept - England have selected what is expected to be the most inexperienced first-choice back line of the major teams at the Rugby World Cup 2015 for Friday's opening game against Fiji.
Coach Stuart Lancaster on Monday announced the same starting XV that beat Ireland earlier this month in their final warm-up game for the Pool A clash at Twickenham. The only change is on the bench where hooker Rob Webber replaces Jamie George.
The average number of caps won by the England players wearing the numbers 10 to 15 (fly-half to full-back) is just 19. The first-choice back division of favourites New Zealand, by contrast, is likely to boast an average of 62 caps each.
But Lancaster, who picked his first unchanged team since a Six Nations clash with Italy in February, believes his line-up has enough test experience to cope with the flamboyant style of the Fijians.
"It is great to be naming an unchanged team," the England coach said. "It is abig threat on Friday night. They are going to be ready to play and we need to be ready. There is a lot of experience in the team now and that should count on Friday. We have done our analysis thoroughly. They have high quality players and are well coached. They are very strong and physical and they can brush off the best of defenders."
Pool A, by far the toughest in the competition, also includes Wales and Australia, both semi-finalists at the 2011 Rugby World Cup. The Welsh and Australian back lines are expected to boast average cap tallies of 41 and 64 respectively.
England backs coach Mike Catt acknowledged that Fiji had strong, talented runners but was confident of the hosts' ability to cope.
"What you expect from Fiji is a big physical battle," Catt said. "They are big men and have the X factor in their team. We have to stop them from playing the game they want to play. But our team has matured. Now we have had them for a long time, they feel comfortable with what we expect them to do."
Speaking at the squad's training base in Bagshot, Surrey, captain Chris Robshaw said England had enjoyed a weekend off following their intense training camp and warm-up games against France and Ireland.
"The boys are looking hungry and they are as excited as everyone around the country. It has been a long journey, so to be here now and to see what it means for everyone around the country, it is an incredible honour. There are a lot of good teams in the pool but all our attention is on Fiji. It is going to be an emotional rollercoaster, the first game with the huge amount of support behind us

Well I've finally manged to get World Cup tickets
Georgia v Tonga Sat at Kingsholm. No idea who to back or who will win but it's a live World Cup game at my local ground.

Anybody know if there is a way to watch in the USA? Online options? When's it start? The game is pretty incomprehensible to me but at they they run around constantly (unlike US sports) for an hour while beating the crap out of each other.

Jason, ITV have the rights to the RWC15 tournament. It's a free to air channel, I'd imagine that you should be able to stream it, if you're unable to find it on cable.
FYI, ITV rugby coverage is hopeless, BBC and Sky are far more adept, both were outbid I've just read.

I've nothing to complain about on the last World Cups on ITV. At least they are on free to view TV not Sky.

Sky as a company are ruthless ba****ds. Unfortunately, if you're into rugby or cricket. they have you by the S&Cs.
Also, as they've been covering both for so long, their presenters and pundits are very good.
Interestingly, I see that the ITV RWC15 presenters are pretty much the Sky bunch. A nice earn for the agents and lawyers sorting those contracts out.
