Lace up high boots don't stop you from turning an ankle either!

I'd just have disciplined the numpties for inattention if they'd managed to trip over railway sleepers - especially if they were an obstruction encountered as part of everyday work - they can't have ben following the SSOW.

Maybe a change of career to rail is not postively indicated!
I agree, but that's just the way it is, you can't argue, just have to roll with it. H&S used to be part of the job, now it IS someone's job & they have to justify their position, it really is an arms race.

Ive worn rigger boots for 20 years and swore by the Jallatte ones Lawson HIS: Jallatte J0257 [CL] "Jalartic" Fleece Lined S3 Tan Rigger Safety Boot - UK13 (EU48) J0257

waterproof still after years of use .. but .. got fed up of stones, and crap dropping in to them as I work in the plant game ... so I started wearing wellies , and for warmth found these excellent http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seeland-Moor.../dp/B006XVAO88

they are only suitable in winter due to the warmth .. but as Ive got older its been very welcome .. no steel toe cap though .. but in summer I use a pair of these http://www.arco.co.uk/products/64760...+Midsole+Black

they are cheap and comfy as hec .. the point being that I tried all the big brands .. CAT .. etc but this cheap boot felt just as good if not better for not a lot of money

In fairness, if you were to pose wearing a pair in a matching Karen Millen ensemble, I think I might be able to raise the £500 via crowd funding on here...
