yes you can just right click in the command prompt window and select mark - then drag a hilight over the text you want then right click again on the hilighted bit. Then you will be able to paste the text into word or notepad etc...

alternatively type
Quote:
tracert www.rib.net > c:\output.txt
and the whole results will get saved to the file output.txt on your c:\ drive (you can use any filename instead of output.txt)

heres my trace if anyone wants a comparison

Boat bad is fine.
Should be OK. There are no issues with the server, and BoatBad is running from the same datacentre.

There definitely seems to be a problem with it the members list, but I haven't got to the bottom of it. There's a software upgrade on the cards which I hope will sort it out.

I find that I have problems with NTL at peak times, when the broadband connection speed drops so far as to be almost unusable. It seems to be worst around tea time. Other than that everything seems to be OK.

Thanks for that JK. It is NTL so it maybe a general problem. They are a bit less that poor when you try to talk to them. My first year contract expires next month so it could be time for a change.

Now then, who's the best alternative?.....

i use freedom 2 surf

never had to call for support - have to reboot my router about twice per year. otherwise 100% up time.

i get no noticable slowdown any time of day but that could be down to living in cornwall.

I would really, really try to avoid having to call NTL about anything. If you do, have some valium handy!

I stayed with them when I moved house, only because they screwed things up so badly that they gave me a year's free line rental and 3 months free broadband. In a previous house move I ended up practically kidnapping two NTL engineers and not letting them go until it was all working. I even lent them the tools they needed

I'll be looking to change provider come April.

No probs with NTL in Swansea - although customer service is diabolical. Have had to talk the techies through a few problems myself in the early days but they seem to understand it a bit better now!!!!

Can't really complain as I had FREE broadband for 2 years!!! Bought my own modem in 2000 - went through proper reg process etc etc but NTL just couldn't get it into their thick heads I had broadband - told them about 5 times and then gave up.

Finally caught up with me about 3 years ago - now on the 10mb service and it flies!!!

I find the cable service FAR more reliable than ADSL - we install and support many customers and the number of adsl routers we get back is scary - no matter what make they are!!!

I think it is probably due to static/lightening spikes down the phone lines - can cause havoc when you have wires running around through the air.

This is buggin me. Last evening and this evening, 5 to 7ish, mostly I just couldn't get to ribnet, pages timed out or just didn't come up on screen. Occasionally a page came up. Even the response to the mouse was slow when selecting page items. Boatmad and all the other sites I tried were fine, a little slow at this peak time but still ok. Presently, everything is flying. I traced a few times as Alex suggested but the timings came up fairly similar no matter what. The line speed is testing out at just about 512 which is what it is supposed to be.

Same here, took ages to load - eventually did, clicked on a link and timed out. Gave up in the end. Happens regularly!

I'm having difficulty right now, pages are sluggish to load and some have timed out. Have tried other sites that work fine.

What's going on?
