Ribnet Members

Had a look at the Ribnet members list. Those that know me will know what a sucker I am for statistics and quantifying them.

So the most number of posts by anyone ever (can you guess) is Codprawn he has nearly double the second highest poster (Nos).

Rather surprisingly the man behind it all JK comes only 8th on the list.

The top 10 posters (i.e. most number of posts ever) are

1. Codders
2. Nos
3. The Jackeens
4. Hightower
5. Richard B
6. Rogue Wave
7. Pete 7
8. JK
9. Jwalker
10. Biggles

However these stats on their own are meaningless as different people had different join dates. I am not able to list all members by average or join date so may have missed someone here but looking at daily averages things are very different.

JSP has been a member for a bit over a year (Sept 2008) is in 12th place overall but has amassed 3695 posts. This gives him an average of 8.5 posts per day every day. This figure however maybe wrong as he is probably posting on another thread as I type this. JSP, I am glad that I’m not your employer!!

Compare this with Codders, our top poster and JSP kicks arse against Codders inferior 6.14 average posts per day. Although when it comes to pacing Codders has been on the forum for 5.5 yrs and is therefore well ahead.

Taking the man in 8th place (JK) who has been a member for 9.5 yrs his average is actually quite low with only 1.27. Quite reframed when you think how many administrative posts he has to post and how often he is called upon for an answer.

Rogue Wave, a long standing member and in 6th place, only averages 2.2, not bad though when you consider he spends much of his life offshore, almost the same average as Polwart who has been onboard for 4 yrs or so and is slowly moving up the rankings

I typed my self into the search (thinking I was an average quantity contributor) to discover in 5 yrs I have only done a quarter of a post per day. Pretty low compared with new players like Knot Yet (5.35 average since Sept this year which is exactly 2 months today, proves that if she can go the distance she is a serious contender for JSP’s position- watch this space).

Looking at the other end of the scale of our 4229 members over 40% (1774) have a total post count or 2 or less.

There are of course I am sure a few people who post under more than one name. A certain fish and his alter ego for example have roughly equally matched each other on total posts and remain under the radar.

Between us all we have done 320,000 posts on this site, half of these have been done by our top 100 posters, 10% of these by our top 0.1% of posters

The above makes no reference to quality of posts.

Clearly I have far too much time on my hands, but I have to type something to get my average up!!

lets hope the wind dies down soon so Doug can go do some training before we get any more tedious posts
I think a gannt chart or at least a .ppt presentation is required high-lighting who had the most useful posts.

useful technical input......NOS
entertaining Sexual inuendo....JSP
and the prize for the ability to start an arguement in an empty house goes to...............................

etc etc.

Surely JSP is self-employed? His posting statistics take on a new light when you take his other fora into account (mostly Photography but you may want to have "Safesearch" on if googling from work ) - he's just as prolific over there. His lil typin' finger must be worn to a nubbin.

Huh! If he got points for moving me to The Bilges, he'd be a Contender.

KY has a RibSlave, which frees up time for posting. I suppose having a redundant X chromosome can't hurt either

Come on, share!!! You know you want too. Most fora are fairly strict about that kind of thing, it takes a fair amount of discipline over time to maintain the illusion.

For a while there, I thought someone was on to me

0.21 posts per day.

Some of us are stalkers, quietly sitting in the background listening to the noisy ones (those with loads of post counts!)

Closer and Closer! Think of it as your Destiny, "Garfish". After all, I only have to be lucky once. You have to be lucky every time
