RC car stuff....motors

So I am rediscovering smaller toys from my past including my RC car !!

I have a long time ago had 'better' 540 motors , but now just have the std one...but as always I'm looking for more speed ! I used to have a 'technigold' motor ( showing my age ) ....but its long gone.

So anyone got one? , or got any recommendations what I should get ?- cost allowing of course, meaning as cheap as possible .

I read about 19t, 21T and know its all about the motor winding but not sure what real world it all means !

Any help appreciated..

OK, not so bad then. Just the most powerful motor you can get then. If the resistor goes pop, just get a new one.

Have a look on ebay http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=m....c0.m270.l1313

The lower the turns the faster and hotter it'll run.

The fewer the windings the bigger the amps the motor pulls and the faster it turns. You do have less torque however, but it's swings and roundabouts and very much like selecting the right prop......Pot luck and experience.

Obviously if you go for a really hot motor you have to upgrade the speed controller etc. You can buy heat-sinks and fans to keep the motor cooler too.

I would start with a 17 or 15 turn motor and see how you get on. Should be able to pick something up cheap on ebay.

Have you seen the brushless motors?
way more power than the brushed motors.
you will need a new esp (electronic speed control)
the LiPoly batteries have a lot more power output than the NiCad of yesterday.
We don't have any RC cars but fly electric planes and I'm amazed on the size of prop those motors spin
